volkswagen interior lights won't turn off

One of the reasons why dash lights stay on after key is removed includes a short in the control module for the lights. I know they are supposed to stay on but even when the car is off they will not shut of and even when they are shut of in the menu they stay on.WTF. Is there a setting or button I am missing? 100.
